These people don't deserve one star rating, they are so rude. Our order was taken, but we were still waiting for our food at least 45 minutes later. I asked the waitress where it was. She asked me what we ordered which was actually a recommendation by her, so she should have known. She didn't come back with an answer for me, so I asked her again. She said it was on the way. Wrong. After asking her at least twice again, she said it's coming. We overheard the old chef asking her if there was another one...he didn't cook the 2nd meal on our order so we would have to wait longer again. I went up to the counter and asked her, 'where is our food?'. I knew the old chef was cooking the 2nd meal, so we were having to wait for that one to cook whilst the other one was getting cold. I firmly asked why we have not had our food in almost an hour when others came in afterwards and were eating their meals. The chef said those customers were different. What? Do they have special money? He told me to get out of there and I called my son over and told him we were leaving anyway. When in business, you do not abuse your customers like that!! Here in Australia his restaurant would be shut down with behaviour like that.. We went to Southend Wimpy a week later and told the waitress about our bad experience at Basildon. She said they are renowned for bad behaviour and other things. People just don't go there because of their reputation. Glad to say Southend Wimpy was winner of the best Wimpy award for 2018 and they proved why to us. Meal served in less than 5 minutes and a lovely friendly waitress and manager.Wimpy Basildon should be forced to close by authorities. Don't waste your time or money.
I came here with two of my colleagues for a lunch! I've not been to a Wimpy in years, so we decided to give it a go. To be quite frank, I don't understand how Wimpy still exists. I think the Basildon Wimpy is probably more neglected/run down compared to its sister stores elsewhere but here's my experience: - The place was cold and a little run down. The decor needs renovating urgently- The menu is over complicated- Its WAY overpriced- Food took 25-30mins to arrive, for a basic burger and fries? This isn't the Gourmet Burger Kitchen. So no excuses here- Service was mediocre - I feel sorry for the workers there.. the gentleman seems way past retirement age, and the lady doesn't seem to enjoy working there- The food is terribly bland and soulless The sad thing is I WANT to support Wimpy. Wouldn't it be great to see a British fast good chain doing well on the high-street? Wimpy desperately needs to take note from Max Burger in Sweden and the likes of McDonalds or Burger King. I think it's safe to say Wimpy probably won't exist in 10 years - unless something changes... soon!
Incredibly rude staff, the old man was at least, certainly time for his retirement. Took far too long and ended up not getting our order, though the people that came after us whom were described as "different" got theirs at least.
I was told by my parents how they had an awful experience here yesterday. As someone has already said, there was an old man working there and sounds like he was a real piece of work! Apparently he told people (including my parents) that they were short staffed due to someone unable to get their bus to work, which is understandable. My parents were told the wait would be ten minutes and they gladly said they would wait. Apparently he walked past a table sevral times and ignored them as they tried to order food. My parents eventually got seated and ordered drinks. When the tea cups and tea pot we're placed on the table they were filthy as if they had just come from someone else's table. When my mum politely asked if she could have a clean tea pot and tea cups the old man rudely told her 'if you don't like it, get out of the shop!' My parents were gobsmacked and felt they had no choice but to leave. I hope no one else ever has an experience like this and I 100% will not be going in there myself.
Worst service I have ever experienced in my life. I went in for a cup of coffee,had my debit card out ready to pay, but the old man serving refused to accept my card and took the coffee away. I even had cash ready to give him but he said go away it's getting busy,we can't serve you. Dude you all made my coffee just let me pay for it. I've never been this embarrassed I beg you don't go to wimpy in basildon. The one in Leigh on sea is so much better. Lovely staff. The old man in basildon needs to retire or go on a customer service course. Absolutely disappointed.
