Always a great meal here.Had salt n pepper squid last time and I must say I cook seafood to perfection so I'm very critical but it was even better than mine.

Grand Central has been coined as Basildon's number 1 American Diner. This must be due to the lack of local Americana competition. Grand Central is clean, and tidy but lacks something very ''American" about it. I've eaten and drank here many times due to its proximity to my work. To be frank, the food here is bland, outdated, and overpriced. I've been fortunate enough to visit many major Cities and places in the USA and have eaten at many diners - independent & chain. My biggest disappointment was having their charcoal bun crab burger, which was incredibly bland... And I feel like the chef may know this and therefore covers the burger with naff sauces. I could name some other meals than that but I won't as none of them are memorable enough. This part of Basildon is home to many large offices and industrial sites so naturally this is a very convenient spot... I feel like Grand Central is coasting on this convenience. Pipps Hill, and Basildon deserves better.
